It has been reported that Roy Keane may return to Manchester United for a second innings, if Louis van Gaal is appointed the next Red Devil boss following the departure of David Moyes on 22 Apr, 2014.
Roy Keane is currently the assistant manager of Republic of Ireland and the right hand man of Martin O’Neill.
The former Sunderland manager didn’t have wonderful departure from Manchester United in 2005. He had several fall outs with Sir Alex Ferguson which ultimately saw him joining Celtic. According to Sir Alex, Keane wanted to control the club on his own terms which led to many arguments between him and the management.
Louis van Gaal rates Roy Keane highly and would want to have him on board if he is the “New Choosen One” to understand the club in and out. Sir Alex Ferguson after retiring as the manager of Manchester United in 2013, still holds a prestigious role in the club as their Director and club ambassador, and it looks unlikely that he would allow van Gall to bring in Roy Keane at Old Trafford once again.
Manchester United has appointed club legend Ryan Giggs as their interim manager. Giggs will be assisted by Phill Neville and Nicky Butt. Reports of Paul Scholes joining the back room staff of Manchester United have also emerged.
Manchester United already has a lot of club legends in their management and would probably ask Louis van Gaal to work with them rather than bringing in Roy Keane. They will also learn from the previous mistake David Moyes made and would want van Gaal to retain the current back room staff.
Will Roy Keane return to Manchester United?
