Chelsea's winger Joao Felix is considering his future at Stamford Bridge, according to a report by TEAMtalk (via The Hard Tackle). This comes after the 25-year-old has witnessed a reduction in his game time this season.
After a decent loan spell in the 2022-23 campaign at Stamford Bridge, Felix was loaned to Barcelona by Atletico Madrid. However, in August 2024, Felix joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid for a reported €52 million fee.
Since returning to Stamford Bridge, the Portuguese winger has struggled to become a regular in Enzo Maresca's starting XI. Despite the lack of regular game time, Felix has arguably been in decent form. In 17 appearances across all competitions, he has scored five goals and registered two assists.
However, his performance in the Premier League has been subpar, scoring just once in 10 games. While his struggle could be attributed to the lack of consistent minutes on the pitch, Felix is open to leaving Chelsea in the ongoing winter transfer window.
The aforementioned report also claimed that it was the Blues hierarchy's idea to sign Felix and not Maresca's. Thus, Felix might not be integral to Maresca's long-term plans. It remains to be seen if Felix will leave Chelsea in the coming weeks due to the lack of game time.
How has Enzo Maresca's Chelsea performed in the Premier League this season?
Despite their recent struggle, having failed to secure a win in their last four Premier League games, the Blues have fared decently this season. Maresca's men are ranked fourth in the standings having registered 36 points from 20 league games. They have won 10, drawn six, and lost four league games.
Meanwhile, the Blues are 10 points behind leaders Liverpool in the title race. The Blues have scored 39 goals in attack and have conceded 24 goals, leading to a goal difference of 15. Cole Palmer is the Blues’ top scorer in the Premier League this season with 13 goals under his belt.
The Blues will take on Morecambe in their next game in the FA Cup on (January 11). However, they will return to Premier League action at home against Bournemouth on Tuesday, (January 14).
