Barcelona will part ways with Ansu Fati and Eric Garcia in 2025, as reported by Reshad Rahman on X. The journalist has claimed that the two academy graduates will be leaving the Catalan club for certain.
They have both struggled for playing time at Barcelona this season and have mostly been on the bench. Fati and Garcia came back from their loan spells from Brighton and Girona, respectively, but have not been able to impress Hansi Flick.
Fati emerged as one of the biggest talents in world football when he broke into Barca's senior team in 2019, aged only 16. He quickly became a key player for the Blaugrana and was even touted as Lionel Messi's long-term successor.
However, the Spaniard has seen his career get derailed because of successive injury problems. He has missed 117 games for Barca with various injuries while missing 14 for Brighton on loan last season.
Fati has made a total of 119 appearances for Barcelona till date, scoring 29 times while producing nine assists. He has played just 158 minutes of football under Hansi Flick this season and is yet to open his account.
Meanwhile, Eric Garcia was expected to become the Catalan giants' cornerstone in defense when they brought him back from Manchester City in 2021. However, the technically gifted centre-back has not quite been able to impress in a Barca shirt yet.
Garcia spent last season on loan at Girona where he flourished with five goals in 31 appearances, but has been a squad player for Barcelona upon his return. The Spain international has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Newcastle United reportedly keen.
