Manchester United winger Antony is reportedly set to stay at Old Trafford this season and compete for his place in Erik ten Hag's team. This is according to a report from ESPN, who also claim that Fenerbahce have been showing an interest in acquiring the services of the Brazilian attacker (via Football Insider).
Clubs from Turkey can still sign players, with their transfer window deadline set for September 13. However, Antony doesn't look like he will be moving despite playing a limited role in the campaign so far.
The position on the right wing remains up for grabs, with multiple players fighting for minutes in that area. Amad Diallo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Antony are seeking minutes in the role.
However, it looks like the 24-year-old former Ajax star is behind both the aforementioned players, having made just one appearance in the league this season. Even that appearance lasted only a minute in a losing cause against Brighton (2-1).
Largely, the winger has been disappointing since moving to Manchester in the summer of 2022 from Ajax for a reported fee of €95 million. Overall, he's made 83 appearances across competitions for the Red Devils, scoring 11 goals and bagging five assists.
However, there seems to be some good news for Antony, with this report suggesting that the manager, Ten Hag, doesn't want to lose the Brazilian. It is claimed that the Dutch tactician wanted to keep hold of his wide options after losing Jadon Sancho in the summer.
It remains to be seen the role Antony plays when Manchester United travel to Southampton for a league tie on Saturday (September 14).
Chelsea to pay £20-25 million for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho next summer- Reports
Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho will become a Chelsea player in the summer of 2025, claims Football Insider. A report from them says that the loan deal contains an obligation to buy the player at the end of the 2024/25 season for a fee between £20-25 million.
This would be a huge loss for the Red Devils, who paid £73 million to acquire the services of the English winger in 2021. Things haven't gone particularly well for Sancho at Old Trafford, having fallen out with manager Erik ten Hag last year.
Moreover, his performances on the pitch haven't been the brightest, with the former Borussia Dortmund man scoring just 12 goals in 83 matches across competitions. He also has six assists to go with those strikes.
