Arsenal battling Tottenham Hotspur to sign £10 million-rated PSG target: Reports

Mikel Arteta
Mikel Arteta's side and Ange Postecoglou's outfit are both keen to sign Maxim De Cuyper.

Arsenal are allegedly set to face difficult competition from city rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the race to sign Club Brugge defender Maxim De Cuyper.

De Cuyper, 24, has cemented himself as a crucial starter for his boyhood club since returning from loan at KVC Westerlo in the summer of 2023. He has helped his current team win a total of four trophies, including three league titles.

Now, according to PSGInside-Actus, PSG have to move quickly to secure De Cuyper's services this month as a number of Premier League clubs are also interested. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are the most interested with Chelsea and Manchester City also thought to be aiming to sign the versatile left-back.

De Cuyper, who has a contract until June 2028 at Club Brugge, has made 85 appearances in all competitions for his current club. He has found the back of the net six times and recorded 19 assists for the Belgian Pro League champions.

Arsenal monitoring 28-year-old star's situation

Speaking to Football Insider, ex-Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown claimed that Mikel Arteta's side are keeping close tabs on Kingsley Coman's situation at Bayern Munich. He said:

"Kingsley Coman has always been a very tidy player. I must admit I've not watched him in a while, but if he's anything like the player he used to be, it doesn't surprise me to hear Arsenal have been looking at him. I'm told they've had scouts in Germany keeping tabs on him and they'll know what his level is."

Revealing the reasons behind the Gunners' interest, Brown continued:

"There's always been plenty of interest there from Premier League clubs because he's got a very good reputation within the game. He's got great experience, ability and know-how, so somebody like him would be ideal for Arsenal."

Brown, who also previously worked for Tottenham Hotspur, concluded:

"He's won countless trophies, and that's maybe something Arsenal have lacked in their squad, players that have experience lifting league titles wherever they've been. So, I'd expect they will be interested and could make a move if they feel he is the right man."

Coman, 28, has a contract until June 2027 at Bayern Munich. However, he could opt to depart his team as he has fallen down in their pecking order of late. He has started just nine of his 20 overall appearances for his side this season.

So far, the Frenchman has won eight Bundesliga titles, two Serie A titles, two Ligue 1 titles, and one UEFA Champions League trophy in his career.
