Arsenal have added Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo to their transfer shortlist for this year's summer window, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg. The Gunners are said to be keen on signing a right winger.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently second in the Premier League table. However, they do have their work cut out for them if they want to catch up to league leaders Liverpool.

The Merseysiders lead the standings by six points and have a game in hand as well, meaning the gap could increase to nine. Meanwhile, the Gunners have been dealt a major blow to their title challenge with Bukayo Saka's injury.

The England international picked up a hamstring injury in their 5-1 thrashing of Crystal Palace in December. Saka has undergone surgery and could be sidelined until March, with Arteta stating that his star play will be out for "many, many weeks."

The Gunners have been in the market for a striker for a while now, but with Saka's fitness uncertain, the club have begun their search for reinforcements across the front three. According to Florian Plettenberg, Arteta's side have now set their sights on Brentford's Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old right-winger has been in great form for the Bees this season, starting all of his side's Premier League fixtures so far. Mbeumo has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 20 league appearances this term.

His contract with Brentford expires in June 2026.

"He would walk into every team in the Premier League" - Michael Owen heaps praise on 25-year-old striker linked with Arsenal

Michael Owen has lavished praise on Newcastle United forward and Arsenal target Alexander Isak. He believes the Swedish striker could easily play for almost any team in the Premier League.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Isak, with Arteta said to be keen on signing a striker. Isak has been in impressive form this season, scoring 15 goals in 22 games across all competitions for the Magpies.

Owen hailed the 25-year-old as one of the most coveted players in the market right now. He said on Premier League Productions:

"He’s seriously good. Newcastle have done so well to get him, develop him and feed him. They have some good players in attacking positions and they play to his strengths. He would be one of the most sought-after players in the market."

The Liverpool legend added:

"I would say only Man City probably wouldn’t or couldn’t do with him because of Erling Haaland. Apart from that, he would walk into every team in the Premier League."

Isak's contract with Newcastle expires only in 2028, meaning Arsenal would probably have to shell out a substantial sum of money to secure his signature.
