Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are interested in signing Bayern Munich attacker Kingsley Coman in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider via Fichajes.net. Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri are struggling with injuries and are expected to remain on the sidelines for a while.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus also sustained an injury during the Gunners' 5-3 penalty shootout loss to Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday, January 12. Kai Havertz has also failed to provide consistent performances for the north London club, scoring 12 and assisting three goals in 27 appearances across competitions this season.
As a result, the Gunners are keen to sign a new attacker in the winter transfer window and see Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman as a good fit. The Frenchman's contract with the Bundesliga giants will expire in the summer of 2027. However, Coman has fallen in the pecking order at Bayern since Vincent Kompany's arrival last summer.
He has played 20 matches for Bayern Munich across all competitions this season, accumulating less than 1000 minutes and starting only six Bundesliga matches. He has scored four goals and provided two assists.
Kingsley Coman's potential arrival at Emirates would boost the Gunners' attack but they'll have to compete against Barcelona and other Saudi Arabian clubs for his signature.
Arsenal change plan for signing 26-year-old attacker also demanded by Manchester United and Barcelona: Reports
Arsenal are desperate to sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres but are unwilling to pay £80 million in the winter transfer window, as per the Independent via Caught Offside. In addition to the north London club, the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona are also keen to sign the Swedish forward.
Viktor Gyokeres has been in stellar form since he penned a five-year deal with Sporting from Coventry in 2023. The 26-year-old has emerged as one of the most prolific forwards in Europe. He's scored 75 and assisted 21 goals in 80 matches across all competitions for the Portuguese giants.
Gyokeres' contract with Sporting will expire in the summer of 2028 and his transfer fee is expected to be around £80 million. As a result, Arsenal will wait for the summer to consider a move for the Swedish forward.
Barcelona see him as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski while Manchester United are keen to reunite Gyokeres with Ruben Amorim.
