Arsenal are reportedly looking for a short-term replacement for Bukayo Saka in January. They see Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman as the ideal player who can help the team for the rest of the season.
As per a report in Evening Standard (via Caught Offside), the 28-year-old is seen by Mikel Arteta as the player who can help his side. The Spaniard wants the winger signed on loan for the rest of the season and believes that the Frenchman can be lured away from the Bundesliga club.
Coman has been a regular for Vincent Kompany's side this season and has played 13 matches in the league. He has a total of 620 minutes in the games, and has managed to score thrice, while assisting twice.
Arsenal are without Saka for the next couple of months after the winger injured his hamstring. He has undergone a surgery already and posted an update for the Gooners on social media:
"The majority see obstacles, but few see the opportunities. Recovery has begun and I'm coming back stronger!"
The Gunners are chasing the Premier League title but are nine points behind the leaders Liverpool after just 18 matches. With half a season left, Arteta remains confident that they can catch the Reds and get their hands on the title for the first time in over two decades.
Mikel Arteta provides update on Arsenal star Bukayo Saka
Mikel Arteta spoke to the media last week and claimed that Bukayo Saka is out for at least two months. He stated that the winger will need some time to get back to his full fitness (via Sky Sports):
"He has had a procedure and everything went well, but unfortunately he will be out for many, many weeks. It will be more than two months. I don't know exactly how much longer. It will depend on how the scar tissue starts to heal, the first week or so, and the mobility of that. It is very difficult to say. The replacement of Bukayo is going to be the team. There were moments where it flowed well tonight and moments where you could see there is still work to do. But I am certain that we are going to do that. We have to rely on the team and not the individual."
Bukayo Saka was in fine form for Arsenal this season with five goals and 10 assists in the 16 Premier League matches. He has another four goals and two assists in five UEFA Champions League matches.
