Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly among four Premier League clubs interested in a move for Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao. According to a report from CaughtOffSide, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also in the mix to secure the player's services (via The Hard Tackle).
This piece further adds that the Dutch outfit may be willing to move him on for a price around the €35 million mark. The 24-year-old's performance since joining his current side in the summer of 2022 has caught the eye of these English sides.
In 24 appearances across competitions this campaign, the former Brazil under-23 international has bagged five goals and 13 assists. A move to sign Paixao in January for the Gunners may seem reasonable, given the injury to Bukayo Saka.
Without their star man, Mikel Arteta is also searching for answers on the starting position down the left flank. Neither Gabriel Martinelli nor Leandro Trossard have been overly convincing this season, leaving a chance open for another to take over this role.
Meanwhile, Liverpool already have sufficient options in this area of the pitch. The likes of Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz are fighting it out for minutes on the left flank, while Mohamed Salah is the undoubted starter on the right. Arne Slot could also turn to Diogo Jota if needed.
Either of these two sides would give Paixao the chance to compete for the Premier League title as well. Currently, the Reds are at the top of the standings, six points clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand.
Arsenal interested in signing former Liverpool target in January- Reports
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in the January transfer window. He was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates and Liverpool during the summer.
David Ornstein now report that it is the Gunners who seem to be leading the race for his signature. However, he believes that the finances associated with this deal will make it improbable for the north Londoners to complete this move in January.
Ornstein said (via This in Anfield):
“Mikel Arteta would like to sign Williams in this window but the finances involved make it highly unlikely.”
Williams is contracted with the LaLiga side till the summer of 2027, and the Spanish outfit will be in no rush to sell him. He's made 24 appearances across competitions this season, bagging two goals and five assists.
