Liverpool and Arsenal are among the clubs considering a move for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Hugo Larsson, according to journalist Kerry Hau. The Swedish midfielder has caught the eye with the Bundesliga club this season, registering three goals and one assist from 14 games.
The 20-year-old has taken his game to a higher level since arriving at the Waldstadion in the summer of 2023 from Malmo. He is already being tipped as a future star and has apparently turned heads in the Premier League.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Hau added that Tottenham Hotspur also have their eyes on Larsson.
“Hugo Larsson is one of Eintracht Frankfurt’s shooting stars and is currently one of the most exciting midfielders in the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old Swede has already aroused the interest of several top clubs. According to our information, the Premier League is currently looking at him," said Hau.
He continued:
“Some top-class teams, right behind Liverpool FC, Arsenal FC and also Tottenham Hotspur, we hear, have Larsson in their sights, but also one or two Bundesliga competitors."
However, Hau added that the Swede is settled at Eintracht Frankfurt, and prising him away won't be easy.
“Nevertheless, the Frankfurt bosses around Markus Dröschel can sit back and relax, because Larsson feels at home on the Main and that is why he recently extended his contract early until 2029 and, very importantly, from Frankfurt’s point of view, without an exit clause,” said Hau.
Liverpool could be in the market for a new midfielder after missing out on Martin Zubimendi this summer. However, Arsenal could have an advantage in the race, as Larsson has previously professed his admiration for Declan Rice.
Will Arsenal and Liverpool upgrade their attack in 2025?
Arsenal and Liverpool could return to the market for attacking reinforcements next summer. The Reds have enjoyed a spectacular season so far under Arne Slot, winning 13 of their 15 games across competitions.
However, the uncertainties surrounding Mohamed Salah's future could prompt Liverpool to turn to the market for reinforcements. Recent reports have suggested that Barcelona are already eyeing the Egyptian with interest.
The Gunners, meanwhile, have struggled of late and are winless in their last three games in the Premier League. The north London side failed in their endeavors to sign Benjamin Sesko this summer and are missing a potent No. 9 in their lineup.
Gabriel Jesus' poor form could tempt Arsenal to target a new striker at the end of this season.
