Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly face competition from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the signature of defender Vitor Reis. The three are among a number of top European clubs interested in signing the Palmeiras man.
Palmeiras have produced some exceptional players in their academy over the years and in recent times as well. The likes of Endrick and Estevao Willian have secured big moves to Real Madrid, and Chelsea, respectively. They have now a new star in their ranks - Vitor Reis.
The 18-year-old defender has caught the attention of some top clubs in Europe, as per ESPN Brazil (via PSG Talk). He has made 17 senior appearances for the Brazilian side and also contributed two goals. His contract with Palmeiras expires in 2028 and has a whopping €100 million release clause.
PSG are highly interested in the youngster as they look to build a young core under Luis Enrique with the likes of Joao Neves and Desire Doue. Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on signing Reis. The Gunners have strengthened their defense in recent years but are keen to make more additions.
Liverpool, meanwhile, saw Joel Matip leave in the summer as a free agent while Virgil van Dijk's contract is set to expire next summer. Hence, they are looking to sign a long-term successor for the Dutchman.
Arsenal set to host Liverpool in a crucial Premier League clash
The Gunners will welcome the Reds at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday, October 27. The two title challengers will be highly eager to take all three points as they look to get their hands on the title.
The pressure on them is further increased after Manchester City secured three points with a 1-0 win over Southampton at home on Saturday. The Cityzens sit atop the league table, two points above second-placed Liverpool and six above fourth-placed Arsenal. Aston Villa are third, five points behind City.
The Gunners lost their last league game 2-0 against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. William Saliba received a red card in that match and will miss the clash against Liverpool. Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori are also expected to be out while Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber could feature.
The Reds, meanwhile, are without Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota for the Arsenal clash while Federico Chiesa is also a doubt. Both sides faced off thrice across competitions last season, with one win each and one draw.
