Arsenal are not planning a move for Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, according to The Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel. The English forward's future at Old Trafford has been making headlines ever since he was kept out of the squad for the Manchester derby on Sunday, December 15.
The 27-year-old has failed to impress since the Red Devils handed him a new deal in the summer of 2023. Recent reports have suggested that Manchester United are willing to let him go for just £40m in 2025. The player has recently stated in an interview with Henry Winter that he is ready for a new challenge.
The situation has forced clubs across the continent to take note. Arsenal have also been named as a possible destination. The Gunners are expected to improve their attack at the turn of the year after falling behind in the Premier League title race of late.
The north London side are third in the league table after 16 games, six points adrift of Liverpool at the top of the table. The Reds also have a game in hand, so Mikel Arteta could be tempted to turn to the market for solutions in January.
Arsenal were reportedly interested in Rashford earlier this summer but balked at Manchester United's proposed asking price. Despite the club's recent decision to slash his price tag, the Gunners are not planning to rekindle their interest in the Englishman.
Have Arsenal and Manchester United faced each other this season?
Arsenal and Manchester United have already faced each other in the Premier League this season. The two clubs clashed at the Emirates earlier this month, in Ruben Amorim's fourth game in charge.
The Portuguese took over as the Red Devils' new head coach on November 11. He arrived at the Emirates on a run of two wins and a draw in his first three games.
However, Manchester United succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Gunners in the league. Jurrien Timber and William Saliba found the back of the net to secure all three points for the north London side.
The Red Devils have since lost one and won two of their games under Amorim, who is slowly seeing his ideas take shape at Old Trafford. The Portuguese head coach, meanwhile, will have the chance to avenge that defeat at the Emirates next month. His team face Arsenal in the FA Cup third round on January 12 at the Emirates.
