Arsenal are reportedly set go to all in to sign €150 million-rated Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, who is also on Liverpool's radar. The Swedish striker is considered among the most promising forwards in the Premier League.
Alexander Isak joined Newcastle United from Real Sociedad in August 2022 for a reported club-record fee of €70 million. In 87 appearances for Newcastle, Isak has contributed 48 goals and nine assists. These include 13 goals and four assists in 20 outings across competitions this season.
The Sweden international is specifically lauded for his pace and ability to finish inside the box, making him an ideal target for the giants of European football.
According to Fichajes.net, Arsenal are set to go all out to sign Alexander Isak. Coach Mikel Arteta reportedly considers him the ideal man to strengthen the Gunners' attack in the near future and give competition to Kai Havertz. However, Newcastle United are not ready to lose Isak for a small fee. The Magpies have set a high transfer fee starting at around €150 million for the striker for any parties interested.
Meanwhile, a recent report from The Telegraph claims that Alexander Isak is also a transfer target for Liverpool. The Reds will look to sign Isak as a potential replacement for their key man Mohamed Salah, whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Salah has yet to renew with Liverpool amid his exceptional form this season.
Isak's current deal with Newcastle runs until June 2028 and his massive transfer fee is reportedly set to ward off potential buyers.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher urges Arsenal to sign more attackers in January
In his recent column in The Telegraph, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher discussed his concerns about the Reds suffering from injuries in the latter half of the season. He wrote:
"My only worry for Liverpool is if they pick up injuries to their big players. If they can avoid them, they will be difficult to catch. Chelsea will finish third and despite their issues I see Man City finishing in the last Champions League spot."
Carragher also urged Mikel Arteta to sign more attacking talent for Arsenal and wrote:
"Arteta has been too reliant on the same players, none more so than Bukayo Saka. Arteta needs at least two more top-attacking players. I am not talking about back-ups in the event of injury but starters who will keep the opposition manager guessing as to what the starting XI will be."
The Merseysiders are currently at the top of the Premier League table with 45 points off 18 games. Meanwhile, the Gunners are nine points behind the table leaders at the third position (36 points off 18 games).
