Arsenal winger Raheem Sterling is reportedly not considering a move away from the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming January transfer window. It comes in the wake of the 30-year-old getting limited game time under Mikel Arteta.
Sterling joined the North London giants from rivals Chelsea on last summer's transfer deadline day after being deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca.
While there were heavy expectations following his season-long loan move to Arsenal, Sterling hasn't enjoyed the sort of spell that he would have hoped for at the Emirates.
Despite a lack of game time so far, reports via The Athletic suggest that Sterling is determined to see out his loan contract with the Gunners' and won't be pushing for a move come January.
The former Manchester City winger has been used quite sparingly by Arteta this season, playing just 426 minutes of football action across all competitions this season.
Arteta has since stuck with his prefered attacking trio of Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz, and Bukayo Saka for the majority of the season. However, the recent hamstring injury suffered by Saka creates room on the right wing for Sterling, as the Englishman is currently out for a couple of weeks.
"We need him" - Mikel Arteta provides injury update on Arsenal forward
While the injury suffered by Saka could present an opportunity for Sterling to secure more minutes as the season progresses, the 30-year-old is also currently sidelined with a knee injury.
The on-loan Chelsea player reportedly picked up a knee injury a couple of days ago during training and could be out of action for a few weeks.
Meanwhile, head coach Arteta did provide an update on Sterling's recent injury setback. The Arsenal manager revealed during a recent interview that Sterling's injury isn't as bad as initially feared.
When asked if there were any positives on the player's injury after Arsenal's 1-0 victory against Ipswich Town, Arteta said via Football London:
"Yes, the news with Raz I think is better. We have to see this week how he evolves. We probably expected the knee injury to take longer than it has evolved in the last few days. Hopefully that’s good news because we need him."
Sterling has made a total of 11 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions this season since joining the Gunners on a season-long loan in August.
