Atletico Madrid have reportedly offered Joao Felix in a surprise swap deal to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. The Portuguese forward joined the La Liga club in 2019 and was on loan to Barcelona for the last season.
Los Colchoneros have offered Joao Felix on loan with an option to buy, along with cash in exchange for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, as per @City_Chief on X.
Julian Alvarez had signed for Manchester City in 2022 on a five-and-a-half-year contract for a transfer fee in the region of £14 million, along with an agreement that the star would remain at his boyhood club River Plate on loan until July. Overall, he has netted 36 goals and provided 18 assists in 103 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League giants.
Joao Felix joined Los Colchoneros from his boyhood club Benfica in 2019. He was sent on loan to Chelsea for the remainder of the 2022-2023 season in January 2023 after difficulties in his relationship with coach Diego Simeone. He recorded 34 goals and 18 assists in 131 appearances for Atletico Madrid.
In the last season when he was at Barcelona, the 24-year-old Portuguese netted 10 goals and provided six assists in 44 appearances across all competitions for the Catalan club.
João Félix's contract with Atletico Madrid is valid until June 30, 2029, while Julian Alvarez's contract at Etihad runs up to June 30, 2028.
