Barcelona are reportedly hopeful of signing either Amadou Onana from Everton or Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United this summer. Both Premier League midfielders have been linked to a potential move to the Catalan side as the club looks to strengthen their midfield.

According to a Mundo Deportivo report, Barcelona are hopeful of signing either of the two midfielders as both Everton and Newcastle reportedly need to sell key players to adhere to the Financial Fair Play rules. Both transfers seemed impossible for Barca earlier due to the high price tags of the players.

Amadou Onana has a reported price tag of at least €60 million while Bruno Guimaraes has a reported release clause of €100 million for Premier League clubs.

However, as per the aforementioned report, Newcastle could consider selling him to a non-English club for less than €80 million, bringing Barca into the picture.

Although the management at Barca highly values both Onana and Guimaraes, the Blaugrana are also not reportedly in the best financial situation. The club must sell at least one important player before making a bid for Onana or Guimaraes.

According to The Athletic, Barcelona need to raise around €130 million to register nine out of their 25 players in La Liga this summer. The club must raise this sum by June 30, the deadline for the transfer window.

The Blaugrana have struggled financially for the last few seasons and reportedly face trouble in registering players amid La Liga's strict Financial Fair Play rules. The club has reportedly exceeded the league's salary cap for the 2023-34 season, and, therefore, must bring in the aforementioned amount to avoid issues with registering their existing players.

Among the players who have not been registered in the La Liga are Marcos Alonso and Sergi Roberto, both of whom are reportedly on their way out from Barcelona, with contracts expiring on June 30. The loan deals of Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo are also yet to be registered for next season.

New signings Vitor Roque and Inigo Martinez will also be considered deregistered on June 30 if Barcelona are unable to raise the required sum. Players who are out on loan such as Ansu Fati, Eric Garcia, Sergino Dest, and Clement Lenglet are further complicating the situation as they're counted in the salary cap for the upcoming season.

Moreover, the Athletic report also suggests that La Masia graduates Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde and Pau Cubarsi have not received formal approval from La Liga for registration.

Barca are reportedly hopeful of coming to a solution. They are reportedly set to sign a lucrative partnership deal with Nike this season and are exploring other investment opportunities. The management is also reportedly considering the sale of several players, including the likes of Frenkie De Jong, Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde and Raphinha.
