Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski will reportedly be available for their upcoming LaLiga clash against Sevilla on Sunday (October 20) after recent injury concerns. The star striker was at the receiving end of a rough tackle by Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic during Poland's 3-3 draw against Croatia in the Nations League on October 15.
Concerns about Lewandowski's fitness arose when the striker did not start in Poland's clash against Croatia on Tuesday. Coach Michal Probierz told Polish television that the striker had a "slight injury" ahead of the game. However, Lewandowski came in as a substitute in the 62nd minute, and bagged an assist six minutes later.
In the 76th minute, goalkeeper Livakovic launched an ugly tackle on Lewandowski, for which he received a red card. Although the Pole remained on the pitch for the remainder of the game, he was limping at full-time.
According to AS journalist Javi Miguel, Robert Lewandowski has not suffered a serious injury. Miguel added that the striker has a bruise on his right tibia and is expected to recover within 24 to 48 hours, which means he should be available for Sunday's game against Sevilla.
Lewandowski remaining fully fit is crucial for Barcelona, especially with important games lined up this month. Barca will next face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League at home (October 23) and their archrivals Real Madrid in LaLiga (October 26) at the Santiago Bernabeau.
Robert Lewandowski is essential for Barca in the attack, especially with Lamine Yamal's availability in question. The teenage star suffered a hamstring strain during international duty with Spain.
Lewandowski has been in impressive form for Barcelona this season, recording 12 goals and two assists in 11 appearances across competitions.
Barcelona handed triple injury boost as three key players could return to squad vs Sevilla: Reports
Three key Barcelona players - Gavi, Dani Olmo, and Fermin Lopez - could return to the squad for their LaLiga clash against Sevilla on Sunday, per multiple reports.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Gavi could return to the squad for the Sevilla clash. The Spaniard has been out since November 2023, when he suffered an ACL injury during international duty with Spain. The youngster has already begun training with the squad.
Journalist Javi Miguel reported this week that summer signing Dani Olmo could also return on Sunday. The Spaniard is set to resume training on Thursday (October 17) and could get around 20 minutes on the pitch against Sevilla. Olmo has been out since September due to a hamstring injury suffered during Barcelona's 4-1 win over Girona in LaLiga.
Fermin Lopez has been unavailable since he picked up a muscular injury in his thigh during a training session in September. Lopez has begun training with the group and could be available to play vs Sevilla, per Spanish outlet FCBN.
