The Barcelona management has reportedly held an urgent meeting to discuss the looming registration issues regarding Dani Olmo and Pau Victor at the club. The Catalans have failed to register both players within LaLiga's assigned deadline of December 31, 2024.

Olmo and Victor both signed deals with Barcelona in August 2024. While Victor rose from Barca Atletic, Olmo reportedly cost the club a whopping €62 million from RB Leipzig. The players were registered for the first half of the season owing to Andreas Christensen's injury.

However, LaLiga gave Barca the deadline of December 31, 2024, to register them for the latter half of the season. Despite multiple appeals to commercial and investigative courts, Barcelona were unable to register them. The issues reportedly stem from Barca's well-documented financial problems.

According to MARCA, the Barcelona management, including President Joan Laporta, Rafa Yuste, Ferran Olive, and Joan Sole, have held an urgent meeting to discuss the looming crisis at the club. Despite missing the December 31 deadline, the Catalans are reportedly hopeful of registering Olmo and Victor in the January transfer window.

The aforementioned report suggests that the club has done everything in its capacity to sign the players by December 31. However, LaLiga regulations strictly prohibit a club from releasing and re-registering a player in the same season. Yet, the management is hopeful and determined to find a solution to the problem.

The Catalan must come up with an alternative but it is unclear whether LaLiga will approve any new efforts given Barca's deadline has passed.

If Barcelona are unable to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor this season, they will not be able to take part in any official competitions for the club. This includes the UEFA Champions League, LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de Espana.

According to SPORT, both Olmo and Victor will have to be registered with their club and the national federation to take part in UEFA competitions.

The law states (via Barca Universal):

“In order to participate in the aforementioned UEFA competitions, any new player must, among other things, be duly registered with the national federation as a player of the club in question, in accordance with the rules of the associations and FIFA.”

It is worth noting that Barca's last effort to sign Olmo and Victor was to appeal to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to provide a new license for the players. However, their pleas were reportedly rejected. Moreover, the regulations state that any new license for clubs must be approved by LaLiga to be official.

As things stand, Barcelona are in a difficult situation regarding both players. As per Mundo Deportivo, Pau Victor cannot be sent on loan either if he is not registered with the club.

In the case of Dani Olmo, he has the option of being a free agent starting January 1 and negotiating with other clubs. However, the Spaniard has reportedly decided to wait for La Blaugrana to resolve the registration crisis, per Fabrizio Romano. Olmo will reportedly not be able to play for the Spanish national team if the registration issue is unresolved.
