According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are contemplating a move for Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman after no breakthrough in the Nico Williams deal. Barca were keen on bolstering their winger options during the summer transfer window.
Williams, Spain's star performer at Euro 2024, was the primary target for the club. However, Azulgrana have failed to reach an agreement with Athletic Bilbao regarding a move for Williams. Hence, the club are courting other options, the transfer expert reports.
Coman has emerged as a target and the Frenchman could leave Bayern Munich on loan. While his salary demands are high and there several clubs interested, Hansi Flick likes the player he coached during his Bayern stint. Romano wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
"Barca have started discussing wingers internally as there's still no breakthrough in Nico Williams deal. Kingsley Coman can leave Bayern on initial loan, he's among options on the shortlist. There are several clubs interested and salary is high; but Hansi Flick likes him."
Coman, 28, has played for several top European clubs like Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich. He has played 294 matches for Bayern, scoring 63 goals and providing 66 assists.
Coman is an experienced France international, having made 58 appearances for Les Bleus, scoring eight goals and providing five assists. Coman possesses quality and he is also adept at the highest level, making him a lucrative option for Barcelona.
However, he is a high wage earner. As per Capology, Coman bags €17 million a season. Whether Barca have the financial capability to pay that sort of money is unclear.
