Barcelona have submitted an opening bid to sign Hull City winger Jaden Philogene on loan this summer, according to transfer expert Florian Plettenberg (via The Boot Room).

Tottenham Hotspur were recently leading the race to land Philogene's signature, according to TEAMtalk. However, the Blaugrana have taken action by submitting a loan bid for the Championship star as they look to bolster their squad for next season under Hansi Flick.

The Blaugrana have reportedly offered a one-year loan deal with an obligation to buy - which is tied to multiple factors, including Philogene's minutes. The Hull City star would be available to buy next summer for a reported figure of €20-23 million.

The La Liga titans have also allegedly offered the 22-year-old a deal valid until July 2026. Since joining Hull last year from Aston Villa, the England U21 international has garnered 12 goals and six assists from 32 appearances in the Championship.

Moreover, he made headlines on February 13 this year during Hull's 2-1 win against Rotherham United after nutmegging a defender before scoring a stunning Rabona. Many pundits have considered this to be worthy of the 2024 FIFA Puskas Award.

Barcelona release official statement after parting ways with former Chelsea star

Barcelona have released an official statement on their website confirming the departure of Marcos Alonso on the expiration of his contract.

Alonso joined the Blaugrana in September 2022 on a one-year deal following a successful six-year stint at Chelsea. The 33-year-old defender had a good first season at the club, scoring three goals in 37 appearances across all competitions. He won the La Liga title and Supercopa de Espana.

Unfortunately, he was unable to make much of an impact last season, missing 23 games due to a back injury and making just eight appearances in total. Due to this, his contract has not been renewed.

The club released the following statement on their website:

"Marcos Alonso is not to continue with FC Barcelona, as the Spanish defender's contract ends on June 30. FC Barcelona would like to place on record their appreciation for his commitment and dedication, and wish him all the best and every success in the future."

Alonso has been linked with a move to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid but nothing has been confirmed as of late.
