Barcelona are reportedly willing to listen to offers from clubs for Pedri as they look to sign the midfielder's Spain teammate Dani Olmo this summer. This is according to El Nacional, who believe that the 21-year-old will be pushed to a secondary role following the arrival of the Bundesliga star.
Moreover, this report states that signing Olmo will not be cheap, with the player's German employers seeking an offer of €60 million. It is claimed that Blaugrana's bid of €40 million in fixed price and the remaining €20 million in variables has already been rejected.
Of course, Deco and Co. will be looking for solutions to get this deal over the line after the 26-year-old has attracted interest from various clubs. After his brilliant performances at Euro 2024 for La Roja, the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and AC Milan are said to be looking at him.
However, the claim from this publication is that Olmo would love a move to Camp Nou this summer. At Euro 2024, he played six matches, bagging three goals and two assists.
Moreover, Olmo provides versatilty, with him being more than comfortable in a midfield role as well as in operating out wide. This would mean trouble for Pedri, who is still considered by many as a top young talent.
To date, he's made 143 appearances across competitions for Barcelona, scoring 20 goals and assisting on 13 occasions. Funnily enough, it was Pedri's injury that resulted in Olmo earning himself a starting spot in Spain's European Championships campaign.
Barcelona president offers positive financial news as club look to bring in strong signings this summer
While Barcelona have been linked with the likes of Nico Williams and Dani Olmo this summer, their financial pedigree to complete these deals has come under question.
However, the Catalan outfit's president, Joan Laporta, has provided a positive update on the financial situation of the club. Speaking to reporters, he said (via Barca Blaugranes):
"We have a series of investors that we will announce. We are in negotiations with Nike that will improve the conditions for Barca. We are satisfied. There will be news in the medium term.
"The economic issue is much better than it was. The process was to save the club, to recover the club and we are on the way to normality."
Barcelona would love to bring their signings in as soon as possible in order to integrate them for pre-season training. The next friendly for the club is against Manchester City on Tuesday (July 30).
