Barcelona have reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Ronald Araujo, according to La Repubblica (via Bianconera News). The report adds that the Serie A giants have also agreed personal terms with the player.
Araujo's future has been the subject of speculation for a while. He was linked with an exit from Camp Nou in 2024, first in January and later in the summer.
However, the 25-year-old picked up an injury at the Copa America and ended up staying with the Catalan side. He subsequently missed the start of the campaign and only recently returned to action for the LaLiga giants.
Araujo started the Copa del Rey tie against Barbastro, helping Barcelona pick up a 2-0 win. It was his first appearance this season, but his time at Camp Nou could be coming to an end.
The report adds that the Uruguayan will travel to Turin next week to have his medicals with Juventus and finalize the move. The Bianconeri reportedly had their eyes on the player for a while, but were waiting for the go-ahead from the Catalan giants.
The LaLiga side were busy dealing with Dani Olmo and Pau Victor's registration. However, the recent ruling from the Spanish Higher Council of Sports (CSD) has brought much-needed relief.
Both players will now be able to play for Barcelona while they await a final decision from LaLiga and Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Meanwhile, Ronald Araujo's proposed arrival could be a big boost for Juventus, who are struggling to deal with Gleison Bremer's injury.
How many trophies has Ronald Araujo won with Barcelona?
Ronald Araujo arrived in Barcelona from Uruguayan club Boston River in 2018 and initially joined the B side. He broke into the first team the following year and has been a key figure for the Catalan side in recent seasons.
Araujo has registered 151 appearances across competitions so far, also chipping in with eight goals and six assists. The Uruguayan has won three trophies with the Spanish giants to date, LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana.
His contract expires in 2026 and he hasn't signed a new deal yet. The Catalan side have found great success with the center-back pairing of Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez so far this season.
