According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, Barcelona are willing to part ways with defender Clement Lenglet if they get a €15-20 million offer for the player. Lenglet is one of the few players La Blaugrana loaned in the summer. The 29-year-old was loaned to Atletico Madrid but has established himself as a crucial player in Diego Simeone’s defensive unit.
Clement Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2018 for a reported fee of €35.9 million. However, he struggled for form in his last two seasons at the Catalan club and consequently had his playing time diminished.
When Lenglet made his loan move to the Metropolitano Stadium, he didn't get the opportunity to feature for Atletico immediately. However, a head injury to Robin Le Normand in the Madrid derby in September paved the way for him to break into Los Colchoneros starting XI.
Since his first appearance for Atletico Madrid in October (against Real Sociedad), Lenglet has been included in the starting lineup of every game he was eligible to play, bar one.
Following Clement Lenglet’s impressive performances of late, Atletico Madrid are now considering signing the Frenchman on a permanent deal.
As per the above-mentioned source, Lenglet is one of the three defenders that Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has identified to bolster his defensive department. In what will come as music to Simeone’s ears, Barcelona are believed to be ready to let Lenglet permanently leave the club, and have set a price tag for his acquisition.
Los Colchoneros do not hold any purchase clause as part of Lenglet’s loan deal. To that end, Diego Simeone’s side must reach an agreement in principle with the Catalan club if they want to sign the defender.
Lenglet’s contract with Barcelona will expire in 2026. He has scored two goals in the ongoing season for Atletico Madrid in 13 appearances across competitions.
