According to Football Insider, Arsenal could make a surprise move for Barcelona fringe player Dani Olmo amid his contract issues at the Catalan club. Barcelona are yet to register Olmo for the second half of the season as they wait for LaLiga and the Spanish Football Federation to approve their latest appeal.

Olmo’s current situation at Barcelona has seen him getting linked to a number of top clubs across Europe. It was reported a few days ago that Manchester City are planning to prise the player away from La Blaugrana.

As per the latest reports, Arsenal and two other Premier League clubs have now emerged as admirers of the former Leipzig man. The two other English clubs are Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.

As per the abovementioned source, former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson claimed that Barcelona would likely demand a loan fee of around £5 million to part ways with Dani Olmo for the remainder of the season. Borson told Football Insider:

“I suspect it won’t end up with him walking out the door. I think a loan move is possible. Although somebody did mention that there could be issues getting approval for a loan move given that he’s not registered in La Liga, so you kind of have this almost total block. But it seems to me that they would be able to find some kind of pragmatic solution to it because, otherwise, it’s a restraint of trade and he literally won’t be able to play football for at least six months.
"It does look increasingly unlikely that Barcelona are going to get through this problem. They have talked about various approaches to it, but it does look like they will fail to get him registered.
“That will leave the door open for probably a number of clubs. I don’t think it’s just the Manchester clubs. There are probably 10 clubs around Europe that would take him on loan. It would probably work for Barcelona if they can’t get him registered if somebody is prepared to take his wages and pay the loan fee of maybe £5 million. I think that’s a deal that could happen. You would think Spurs, maybe Arsenal if he could fit in there, and even the likes of West Ham. Almost any of the major clubs around Europe that can afford that wage would think about taking him.”

Dani Olmo returned to Barca last summer from Leipzig for a reported fee of €55 million with an additional €7 million in potential add-ons. His current market value is €60 million as per Transfermarkt.

Spanish Government deny Barcelona registration reprieve for Dani Olmo – Reports

Some recent reports have claimed that Barcelona would be granted an injunction by the Higher Sports Council (CSD) to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor (via Daily Mail).

It was further reported that the Catalan club could receive the precautionary measure ahead of the Spanish Supercup final on Sunday should they get past Athletic Bilbao in the semifinals.

However, such claims have been refuted by the president of the CSD, Pilar Alegria. She revealed the agency continues to study Barcelona’s issue, saying (via MARCA):

"We are studying it. In fact, I have already seen some news, some information, that they considered it a done deal. And the truth is that at this time we are still studying this request that came to us through Barcelona.
"In addition, we will have to ask for comments from both LaLiga and the RFEF in order to be able to give a response. We also have a deadline, we are talking about a 52-page request that also had more than 60 documents attached, so it is not a tedious job at all."

Dani Olmo last played for La Blaugrana against Atletico Madrid in LaLiga on December 21.
