Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen has reportedly made his position clear regarding his situation at the club. According to Spanish outlet Sport, the Denmark international has no intention of leaving the club despite recent rumours linking him with a departure.

The 28-year-old has made a solitary appearance all season, which was the first game of the 2023/24 term. He suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon and is not expected to return by the end of the year.

Christensen came up through the youth ranks in Denmark with Brondby IF before joining Chelsea in 2012 as a teenager. A successful stint, including winning the Europa League and Champions League while making 161 appearances, was followed by a Barcelona move in the summer of 2022.

He became a key player for Xavi, especially last season, playing as both a centre-back and a defensive midfielder. He made 42 appearances in 2023/24, collecting three goals and two assists.

In his absence, La Blaugrana have enjoyed the rise of youth prospect Marc Casado in defensive midfield while the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez and Ronald Araujo have played in central defence.

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick suggested that Lamine Yamal was the driving force behind the side's 5-1 win over RCD Mallorca. Speaking to Movistar Plus, the German said:

"Today (Yamal) was very important for us, he always generates positive things for the team," Flick told Movistar Plus.
"He could have scored one or two goals today, he played very well. Of course, I am happy with the team performance. In the first half we had a lot of chances and we scored, but, they equalized in a counterattack, but we kept going. The entire team is happy with how things went tonight."

Yamal collected an assist and also won a penalty in La Blaugrana's thrashing of their opponents. He was a constant threat down the right, finishing with six shots, two chances created, five passes into the final third and five completed dribbles.

The win marked Barcelona's first triumph in the league after Yamal missed close to a month with an ankle injury. The side had failed to win their last three games in the league, collecting two losses and a draw, allowing Real Madrid to cut into their lead at the top of the table
