Barcelona are putting together final preparations ahead of their Champions League game against Crvena Zvezda on Wednesday, November 6. The Catalans arrive at the game on superb form, having scored 24 goals in their last six games.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been advised to make a move for Raphinha. Elsewhere, Manchester City have set their sights on a teenage defender.
On that note, let's look at the major Barcelona transfer stories from November 5, 2024.
Liverpool advised to sign Raphinha by former player
Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has advised the club to move for Raphinha as Mohamed Salah's replacement. The talismanic Egyptian has entered the final year of his contract with the Reds and hasn't signed a new deal.
Meanwhile, Raphinha is enjoying a new lease of life at Barcelona under Hansi Flick this season. The Brazilian already has the experience of playing in the Premier League with Leeds United and could hit the ground running at Anfield.
Speaking to Instant Casino, Pennant insisted that Raphinha could be a fine choice to fill Salah's boots at Liverpool.
“If Mohamed Salah does leave, I can see Raphinha making a return to the Premier League in a Liverpool shirt to replace him. He’s quick and fits that same style of play on the right-hand side and cutting in. He’s very tricky and that’s what Liverpool have now with Luis Diaz and Salah," said Pennant.
He continued:
“He’s got that eye for goal which we’ve seen from him at Barcelona where he’s doing really well – scoring hat-tricks against the likes of Bayern Munich and playing a big part in their recent 4-0 El Clasico win against Real Madrid."
He concluded:
“His experience at Leeds would make him a good fit at Liverpool – he’s comfortable in the Premier League and he managed to make an impact and score goals there despite them struggling as a team. You’d imagine that a team like Liverpool would step him up a level with how attacking they are and how comfortable they are going forward.”
Raphinha has registered 11 goals and nine assists from 15 games across competitions this season for the Catalans.
Manchester City eyeing Pau Cubarsi
Manchester City are eyeing a move for Pau Cubarsi, according to Fichajes.net. The Spanish defender rose through the ranks at Barcelona and broke into the first team last year.
Cubarsi has been outstanding for the Catalans so far and is now a first team regular under Hansi Flick. This season, he has appeared in every game for the LaLiga giants, all but one of which have been starts.
The Premier League giants are pleased with his efforts and want him at the Etihad. They are even willing to offer €70m for the 17-year-old to convince Barcelona. However, the player is highly rated at the club and the Catalans are unlikely to let him go. He is under contract until 2027.
Marc Casado's Barcelona release clause revealed
Marc Casado has a €100m release clause in his contract, according to SPORT. The Spanish midfielder has caught the eye with Barcelona this season, registering five assists from 13 appearances across competitions.
His efforts have caused a stir across the continent. The player is under contract at Camp Nou until 2028, but clubs are already planning to prise him away.
The Catalans have generally protected their young talents by inserting sky high release clauses in their contracts. Lamine Yamal, for instance has a €1bn release clause, while Pau Cubarsi's clause is set at €500m. However, Casado's relatively lower release clause could open up an opportunity for his suitors to take advantage.
