Barcelona have reportedly set sights on signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. They are looking to bring in the Englishman on loan for the rest of the season.
As per a report in SPORT (via Forbes), Hansi Flick wants to add a winger in the winter window and sees Rashford as a perfect option. The club's sporting director Deco has held talks with the 27-year-old's representatives and is exploring the move.
The Catalan side will need to offload players before they can afford to sign the Manchester United star. They are in talks with Juventus to sell Ronald Araujo and are open to selling Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati.
Barcelona face tough competition from AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Juventus, Napoli, and AS Monaco for the Englishman. He also has interest from Borussia Dortmund, West Ham United and Arsenal but the Manchester United star has not decided.
Barcelona are also in talks with RFEF and LaLiga as they look to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
Marcus Rashford eyeing Manchester United exit amid Barcelona interest
Marcus Rashford spoke to Henry Winter after he was dropped from the Manchester United squad for the derby against Manchester City last month. He added that there are no hard feelings about Ruben Amorim not selecting him and that he does not have anything bad to say about the club or the manager.
He said (via GOAL):
"For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me."
"I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect my peak to be now. I've had nine years so far in the Premier League and that’s taught me a lot, that’s helped me grow as a player and as a person. So I don't have any regrets from the last nine years. I won’t have any regrets going forward because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen, and sometimes good things happen. I just try and keep a fine balance. 100%. That's my mentality."
Marcus Rashford was added to the matchday squad against Newcastle United on December 31, but remained on the bench despite the Red Devils losing 2-0. He was left out of the 2-2 draw against Liverpool on January 5, with Amorim reporting that the Barcelona target was ill.
