Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva. The Bundesliga giants have targeted Premier League talent this summer since Vincent Kompany succeded Thomas Tuchel.

The Daily Mail reports that Bayern are still looking to bring Silva to the Allianz Arena despite Michael Olise's signing. The French winger is headed to Munich after they triggered his £60 million release clause.

Silva, 29, is a long-term target, and they are ready to try to convince the 91-cap Portugal international to depart Etihad. He has a £50 million buy-out clause in his contract, which expires in two years.

Manchester City have continuously kept hold of Silva despite constant interest in his services. Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also targeted the Portuguese playmaker over the past two summers.

Kompany wants a reunion with Silva, whom he spent many years with at City. The Belgian coach admires his experience and versatility in midfield and further forward.

Silva was a key member of Pep Guardiola's team last season, which won an unprecedented fourth Premier League title in a row. He made 49 appearances across competitions, scoring 11 goals and 10 assists.

The former AS Monaco attacker is said to be happy in England and not in a rush to leave. He has been at the Etihad since July 2017 and has won 16 major trophies, including six Premier League titles.

"He is so strong" - Vincent Kompany tipped Bernardo Silva to become Manchester City captain

Vincent Kompany talked up Bernardo Silva's leadership qualities.

Kompany spoke glowingly of his former Manchester City teammate in May 2019 and tipped him to become a future captain. The Belgian was still skipper at the time, but he explained what the Portuguese ace needed to do (via HITC):

"I say to him often you are 50% clown, 50% leader. When he becomes 25% clown, 75% leader he will become the captain of this team. He is so strong and to be honest there is nobody who deserves this title more."

Silva was around 24 then and had only spent two years at the Etihad. He's since become one of the most experienced players in Manchester City's locker room, leading by example. Guardiola is a massive fan, and he explained last season that 'everybody loves him.'

Ilkay Gundogan replaced Kompany as captain before he departed for Barcelona last summer. Kyle Walker has since been handed the armband, but Silva has worn it occasionally.
