Bayern Munich set to enter race for Arsenal and Manchester United target

Bayern Munich have reportedly entered the race to sign Arsenal and Manchester United target Amadou Onana, who representing Belgium at Euro 2024. As reported by The Liverpool Echo, the Bavarian giants have identified the Everton midfielder as an alternative for Joao Palhinha.

Palhinha has been a target for Bayern Munich since last summer and almost joined the Bundesliga giants last summer. Bayern agreed to a £60 million deal for the Portugal international last summer on the transfer deadline day but the deal collapsed in the eleventh hour.

The Portugal international eventually ended up signing a new deal at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2028. It has been claimed that Bayern Munich are ready to make an offer worth £40 million for Palhinha this summer but Fulham are holding out for a bigger fee.

As per The Liverpool Echo, Bayern Munich are now considering Everton's Amadou Onana as a cheaper alternative to their primary target. However, they are set to face competition from Arsenal and Manchester United for the signature of the Belgian midfield dynamo.

Aged just 22, Onana has already shown his immense potential during his time at Hamburger SV, Lille, and Everton. He has been a key player for regelation-battling Everton following his £33 million switch from Lille in 2022.

Onana's strong physique, all-round game, and age make him a desirable option for many top European sides who are looking to bolster their midfield. On top of that, a fellow Belgian Vincent Kompany as a manager and his prior playing experience in Germany makes him a perfect option for Bayern Munich.

Onana has featured 72 times for Everton to date having impressed thoroughly while being capped 15 times for Belgium so far. The Arsenal and Manchester United target has started all three games for Belgium in the Euro 2024.

Manchester United legend hits out at Arsenal star after Euro 2024 display

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has slammed Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice for his poor showing for England against Slovenia at Euro 2024. The Three Lions could only salvage a 0-0 draw against Slovenia to finish their group-stage campaign with one win and two draws.

Rice urged the media and pundits to show more encouragement to the team ahead of England's clash against Slovenia. However, the Arsenal star was not at his best against Slovenia and Keane was far from impressed.

The former Manchester United skipper insisted that modern players are not open to criticism. He was quoted as saying by HITC:

“I definitely think the modern player seems to be a bit more delicate to criticism. I judge players by their actions. We know how quickly football changes and if England put on a good performance or win tonight. Declan Rice is talking about, ‘show some love’. Listen, come on, it’s serious stuff. This is football stuff. People have made huge sacrifices to travel. You get the love back when you perform.”

Despite their lackluster performances in the group stage, England have managed to top their group. They will take on Slovakia in the Round of 16.
