Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly at loggerheads over the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush. Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have put a £40 million price tag on their prized striker amid interest from the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has played 32 matches for his country but has managed to find the net just six times, providing three assists. With his club, however, Marmoush has been more prolific. He scored 17 goals and provided six assists in 43 matches across competitions last season.

According to TeamTalk, Premier League sides West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also keeping tabs on the Egyptian. However, it was Nottingham Forest who made an approach for Marmoush in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Forest had reportedly offered £20 million to sign Marmoush, but Frankfurt refused to deal at that value. According to the report, the Egypt international is keen on a move to the Premier League. He dreams of following his international team captain Mohamed Salah as Liverpool and Arsenal have also been linked with him.

He spoke about his admiration of the Reds forward Salah, calling it an honor to play alongside him, telling the official Bundesliga Facebook account:

"I’m learning everything from Mohamed Salah on and off the pitch. It’s a great honour to play alongside one of the best players in the world."
"I always learn from him how to become a professional, both on and off the field. He’s like a big brother to me and the other young players. He talks to us about sleep, work ethic – everything. I constantly seek his advice and benefit from his vast experience in matches. Playing alongside him is a fantastic feeling," he added.

Liverpool already have Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo as forward. Arsenal, meanwhile, have largely deployed Kai Havertz as a false 9. With Gabriel Jesus reportedly out of favor, the Gunners could be in the market for a new striker next summer.

However, the report states that the interest from these two sides is not considered concrete, so a move to the other Premier League sides is more likely.

Arsenal and Liverpool fall behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race

Ahead of this weekend's matches, Liverpool were tied on points with Manchester City in the Premier League title race. Both the clubs had a perfect record after three games played.

This week, however, the Reds suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at home. This was the visitors' first win at Anfield in 55 years and helped City take a three-point lead over Arne Slot's side early on in the season.

Title hopefuls Arsenal were already two points behind City after drawing 1-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion ahead of the international break. Mikel Arteta's side, however, kept pace after a hard-fought 1-0 win over their derby rivals at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With Erling Haaland showing no signs of slowing down, Manchester City have established themselves as firm favourites for the title early on in the season. The Norwegian has scored a record nine goals in the first four games. Arsenal and Liverpool already have catching up to do.
