Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly placed a £60m price tag on their striker Omar Marmoush amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester City. Since joining Frankfurt from VfL Wolfsburg in 2023, Marmoush’s prolificness in front of goal has improved considerably, especially this season. The Egypt international has scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in 16 games across competitions in the ongoing season.
His progress has not gone unnoticed, which has consequently captured the attention of several top clubs in Europe. Premier League clubs Manchester City and Liverpool are the two clubs hot on the player’s heels. Liverpool were the first to show interest in Marmoush. They see him as a replacement in their attacking options should Salah decide to leave at the end of the season upon the expiration of his contract.
City are the latest club to enter the race for the 25-year-old following his impressive start to the 2024-25 season. Amidst interest for Marmoush from top clubs in Europe, a new development about the player has emerged.
According to The Hard Tackle, Eintracht Frankfurt will demand £50–60 million to part ways with Omar Marmoush in January following the latest interest from Manchester City. Marmoush is said to be eager to move to a top club where he can compete for trophies and play in the Champions League. However, the Egypt international will only leave Frankfurt if his suitors can guarantee him regular playing time.
It remains to be seen whether City or Liverpool will be able to meet Frankfurt’s asking price. Given the current situation, the Cityzens seem more likely to sign Marmoush, as they were reportedly planning a €60m (£49.78m) move for the player just a few days ago.
Frankfurt are unlikely to enter into any negotiations for the player as they consider him their most important player, as per the abovementioned source.
Manchester City plot £50m transfer swoop for Liverpool target – Reports
In another report, Manchester City are eyeing Liverpool’s summer transfer target, Martin Zubimendi. Zubimendi was a top priority in Liverpool’s summer bid, but the deal fell through after the Spaniard turned down the proposal of the Merseyside club to stay put at Real Sociedad.
Zubimendi has emerged as a transfer target for City as the Premier League champions are looking for an urgent replacement for their midfielder Rodri. The Ballon d'Or winner has been ruled out of the season due to injury. Rodri played a pivotal role in City’s successes, and his absence has been strongly felt.
According to the Sun, Manchester City are planning a £50 million transfer swoop for Martin Zubimendi in the January transfer window. However, while City’s plotted fee is equivalent to the player’s valuation (€60 million as per Transfermarkt), the uncertainty surrounding his regular playing time at the Etihad could forestall a potential swoop.
City’s interest in Zubimendi seems to have ramped up after suffering their fourth consecutive defeat of the season against Brighton last week.
