Atletico Madrid are planning to bring Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho back to the Civitas Metropolitan Stadium in January, according to Fichajes. The Argentinean rose through the ranks with Los Rojiblancos, before making a move to Old Trafford in 2020.

He broke into the first team under former manager Erik ten Hag and has enjoyed a steady rise with the Red Devils. However, things appear to have changed since the arrival of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

The former Sporting manager took charge at Old Trafford as the new head coach on November 11 and has implemented the 3-4-3 formation at the club. It is believed that Garnacho's direct approach doesn't fit into the Portuguese's system.

The 20-year-old has dropped down the pecking order of late and was kept out of the squad for last weekend's Manchester Derby. The Red Devils secured a stunning 2-1 win over their bitter rivals, thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.

Garncho has registered eight goals and four assists from 24 games across competitions for Manchester United this season. His contract runs until 2028, but Amorim is ready to let him go in 2025.

Atletico Madrid are closely watching the situation and are planning to bring their academy star back to the club. Diego Simeone is apparently a fan of his countryman and believes he could fit in like a glove alongside Giuliano Simeone and Julian Alvarez in attack.

The LaLiga giants are looking for a replacement for Antoine Griezmann and Garnacho has been identified as an option. Los Rojiblancos are willing to test their Premier League counterpart's resolve this winter.

Manchester United have been on a topsy-turvy run under Ruben Amorim so far. The Portuguese head coach has won four of his seven games in charge, losing two others.

Amorim started his tenure with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town in the Premier League in November. The Red Devils have taken time to adapt to his 3-4-3 system, but have looked quite comfortable in the setup of late. The Premier League giants have scored 14 goals and conceded 10 under Amorim so far.
