Chelsea could look to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United this summer, should the Peacocks fail to get promoted to the Premier League for next season, as per Football London. The Dutch winger is reportedly set to command a transfer fee north of £30 million should Leeds look to sell him.

Leeds might have to sell some of their players to abide by the EFL financial rules if they fail to gain promotion, with Summerville's name doing the rounds on that list.

Leeds finished third with 90 points from 46 games before beating Norwich City 4-0 in the second leg of their Champions playoffs semi-finals.

As for Chelsea, Summerville, 22, does appear to be the type of player that fits the bill for the club. However, given the current squad depth at Stamford Bridge, it would remain to be seen how much game time he will be given, should he join Chelsea.

Summerville has registered 19 goals and nine assists in 43 games this season in the Championship. Overall, he has racked up 21 goals and 10 assists in 48 games across competitions for Leeds United this season.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly explains BlueCo's investment strategy

Since taking over at Chelsea in 2022, the BlueCo consortium, led by Todd Boehly, has spent over £1 billion on signing new players. Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, Boehly explained why they spent the aforementioned sum on the players.

"When we are spending, we are investing and those players continue to hold their value. So what we are thinking of is what does it cost to finance that portfolio of players. Some will go up and some will go down in value, but I argue the investments made at Chelsea have held their value," he said (via Standard).

The American billionaire added:

“We are not spending the money, we are investing the money. So when we buy, we are just thinking about the cost of carry."

Calling for patience, Boehly concluded:

"The number one thing is you have got to be patient. You are putting something together and expecting it come together really quickly, but the reality is anything really good takes a little bit time. Patience was always a thought for us."

Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League table with 60 points from 37 games. They reached the final of the EFL Cup and the semi-finals of the FA Cup this season.
