Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to lock horns for the services of Southampton forward Tyler Dibling, according to Caught Offside. The 18-year-old has registered one goal and two assists from 16 games across competitions this season. He was particularly impressive against Liverpool and clubs across the country have begun to keep tabs.
Southampton are determined to keep hold of their prized asset but they are currently battling relegation in the Premier League.
Should they drop down to the Championship at the end of this campaign, the Saints will have trouble keeping hold of Dibling. The report adds that Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are among the clubs who have scouted the Englishman this season.
The Blues have assembled a youthful squad and are already reaping the benefits of investing in talented young footballers. The London giants are currently second in the league table and have been on the rise under Enzo Maresca. Dibling fits the profile of players recently targeted by Chelsea, so a move certainly makes sense.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are planning to get back to their best under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have suffered due to poor recruitment of late and are ready to make amends.
With the attack yet to fire on all cylinders, Dibling could be a welcome addition to Amorim's roster. Southampton reportedly want €25m to let him go, which shouldn't be a problem for his suitors either.
Will Chelsea and Manchester United compete for a Barcelona midfielder in 2025?
Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea and Manchester United are in the race for Frenkie de Jong's services as well. The Dutch midfielder's contract with Barcelona expires at the end of next season but he hasn't signed a new deal yet.
De Jong has struggled with injuries in recent times and is no longer a first-team regular under Hansi Flick this season. His recent performances haven't been up to the mark either but the player's stock remains high.
Manchester United are long-term admirers of the Dutchman and have previously tried to prise him away under Erik ten Hag. It is believed that Ruben Amorim also wants the player in his team next year.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are blessed with a plethora of midfield talents but could do with someone like De Jong in their ranks. The report adds that the Dutchman doesn't want to sign a new deal with Barcelona and is ready to leave.
