Chelsea are reportedly looking to re-sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and are facing a battle with Liverpool. The Blues see him as the ideal player to bring in following the injury to Wesley Fofana.
As per a report in GiveMeSport, Guehi is on the radar of Chelsea and they are looking to bring the Englishman back to Stamford Bridge. They are looking at centre-backs to sign in January and see the Crystal Palace captain as the top pick.
The London side rejected a bid of over £60 million from Newcastle United in the summer for the defender. However, their stance has slowly changed as the 24-year-old has entered his final 18 months of contract.
They are open to a sale, but Chelsea are not alone in the race. Newcastle United remain interested, while Liverpool are were the side leading the chase as they eye a center-back too. Manchester United are also said to be in the mix, but they are not willing to splash the cash in January.
What happened to Chelsea star Wesley Fofana?
Enzo Maresca has stated that Wesley Fofana could be out for the rest of the season following a hamstring injury. He claimed that the Frenchman is set to be out for an extended period after the latest injury issue.
He said:
"Unfortunately Wes will be out for a very long time. No [he doesn't need surgery], not at the moment. Unfortunately he could be out for the season. We don't know exactly but he could be out for part of the season. It was the first update and the first information we had but having a test, we realised it was worst than what we thought at the beginning. It is hamstring and unfortunately, we are going to lose him for a while."
Fofana was back in the Chelsea starting XI this season and was slowly forming a partnership with Levi Colwill.
Maresca admitted that he was a big fan of the defender and said earlier this season:
"Wes is a player that I really love, I am in love with Wes! He is doing fantastic after one year injured and, for any player in the world, when you are out for one year and then you come back it is not easy, and he is doing top. This is the only thing we want from him."
Chelsea have also been offered the chance to re-sign Fikayo Tomori, but the Blues are not looking to bring back the AC Milan star.
