Chelsea are reportedly prepared to face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for the services of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu in the January transfer window. The 19-year-old Danish full-back broke into the first team at the Serie A club in 2023 following impressive performances at the youth levels.
Last season, he played 34 games, scoring two goals and providing an assist. His quality for Lecce saw him called up to the Denmark national team, where he has made three caps and scored a goal. This season, he has played nine games, scoring one goal.
His quality has attracted Premier League clubs, especially in London, with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham showing interest in his services. According to The Mirror (via TBR Football), Spurs are set to continue monitoring Patrick Dorgu's situation at Lecce. They were notably interested in him all summer, but did not bid for his services.
This time around though, they will have to be wary about Chelsea, who have set their sights on Dorgu. The teenage talent is reportedly a fan of the Stamford Bridge club, which could potentially make it difficult for Spurs in their battle for his signature. His contract expires in 2029 and as per Transfermarkt, his market value is €12 million.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca reviews start to life at the helm of Stamford Bridge
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has reviewed his start to life at Stamford Bridge, having led the Blues into the new season in style. They have played eight Premier League games this season, losing just twice and winning four games.
They currently sit in sixth place and are strong favorites to win the UEFA Europa Conference League. About this impressive start, Enzo Maresca said in a press conference (via Football.London):
"Very happy because what I expected in terms of players, level and style, I can see clearly that is there. I said already many times: no matter who plays, you can see clear the way we want to play.
"For sure, there are games we can do better but in this moment, it is normal because we just started two or three months ago. The club is one of the best clubs in the world and I am very excited and very lucky to share my time with this squad. I am very happy."
Chelsea are coming off a 2-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield today (October 20). However, they will need to put this setback behind them and prepare for their midweek Conference League match against Panathinaikos. It will take place at the Athens Olympic Stadium on October 24.
