Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea defender Renato Veiga in the January transfer window. This is according to a report from the Daily Mail, which adds that several other clubs are also monitoring the Portugal internationals's current situation (via The Boot Room).

Stuttgart, Napoli, Juventus, and Bournemouth are all set to provide Wolves competition in signing the versatile player. Veiga can play in a central defensive position, at left-back, or be deployed in defensive midfield when needed.

After joining the Blues from Basel last summer for a reported fee of €14 million, he hasn't featured much under new boss Enzo Maresca. Overall, the 21-year-old has only managed seven appearances in the Premier League, through which he's enjoyed 176 minutes of action.

Given his lack of involvement in the first team, it is said that Veiga himself is frustrated at Stamford Bridge and is willing to move on. Therefore, the west Londoners could be set to lose the defender on a permanent basis in the winter.

It will be interesting to see the sum that Chelsea demand for the player, given he's contracted at the club till the summer of 2031. A move to Wolves might be ideal, given a serious injury to Yerson Mosquera in September.

Vitor Pereira's side also lost experienced Premier League defender Max Kilman to West Ham in the summer. Hence, Veiga will certainly be in a good place to compete for regular minutes with Wolves.

The 24-year-old has only a year-and-a-half left on his contract at Selhurst Park, which may urge the Eagles to sell him in 2025. However, he will not be a cheap buy, with Crystal Palace said to have rejected a £65 million bid from Newcastle United for Guehi in the summer.
