Portugal and Al-Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly offered himself to four European clubs, including Chelsea, in the ongoing winter transfer window.
Ronaldo, who will turn 40 next month, left Europe to move to Saudi Arabia in January 2023. He secured a Bosman move to Al-Nassr after having his Manchester United contract terminated ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Now, according to Football365, the Real Madrid legend has a desire to return to Europe in the future. However, the right-footed forward has been rejected by Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich of late.
Ronaldo, whose age and salary are allegedly making a return to Europe difficult, has been in stellar form for Al-Nassr this season. He has registered 16 goals and three assists in 19 games in all competitions for his club in the ongoing term.
Overall, the Sporting CP academy graduate has made 89 appearances across competitions for Al-Nassr. He has found the back of the opposition net 80 times and recorded 18 assists for his current club, where his deal will run out this June.
Roberto De Zerbi replies to Cristiano Ronaldo suggesting Saudi league is better than Ligue 1
Last month, Cristiano Ronaldo boldly suggested that the Saudi Pro League is a better league than the Ligue 1. He said at the Globe Soccer Awards (h/t Mirror):
"Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1, of course. France only has PSG. The rest are finished. Try to sprint in 38, 39, 40 degree weather and see. It is difficult to become the champion in Saudi."
Al-Nassr, who finished second in the 2022-23 and the 2023-24 Saudi Pro League campaigns, are fourth with 25 points from 13 matches this term.
Now, Olympique Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi has shared his honest thoughts on the former Real Madrid man's recent remarks He said (h/t Mirror):
"It is a stronger league than people outside of France may think. The players and coaches are very strong, the stadiums are full, and the atmospheres are great. Maybe this league is badly promoted or not as well as Premier League, Serie A, La Liga or Bundesliga. I don't know if this is a communication or a management issue."
Marseille, who named De Zerbi as their boss last summer, are second in the Ligue 1 table with 33 points, seven off top spot, from 16 games so far.
