Al-Nassr are reportedly set to sign Cristiano Ronaldo's former Juventus teammate Wojciech Szczesny for a fee of €40 million this summer.

Szczesny, 34, has relished a fine seven-year stint at the Bianconeri since arriving from Arsenal for close to €18 million in 2017. He has helped his team lift a total of eight trophies, including three Serie A titles.

However, the 83-cap Poland international is expected to lose his number one spot at Juventus next season. The Serie A giants allegedly agreed a deal worth around €20 million with Monza to add Italian goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio to their ranks earlier this month.

Now, according to TUTTOmercatoWEB, Al-Nassr have recently made progress in their pursuit of Szczesny. They are set to snap up the shot-stopper for €40 million and will offer him a €19 million-a-season deal.

Szczesny, whose Juventus contract is set to run out in June 2025, was reportedly initially keen to stay put this summer. However, he has been talked around by the favorable contract terms offered by Al-Nassr.

A right-footed goalkeeper, Szczesny would fill the void left by David Ospina should he join Al-Nassr this summer. He would also reunite with Ronaldo, who played 101 matches with the shot-stopper at Juventus.

So far, Szczesny has made 252 appearances across all competitions for Juventus. He has recorded 103 clean sheets, including 15 last campaign, and conceded just 233 goals for the Bianconeri in his career.

Pundit labels Cristiano Ronaldo 'illegal'

During a recent interaction on ITV, Manchester United legend Gary Neville heaped praise on Cristiano Ronaldo for his stellar goal-scoring record. Waxing lyrical about his former teammate, he said (h/t Mirror):

"I can't believe it... 895 goals [for club and country]. I mean, that is, it's not right, that. I mean, I knew he'd scored a few goals, but, honestly. His professionalism, he's never taken a chance once at any point in his career with his preparation. He's a phenomenon and one of the greatest we'll ever see. His dedication, his determination to win is unbelievable, and 895 goals is bordering on illegal!"

Ronaldo, 39, is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time owing to his exploits in and around the penalty box. He has netted 130 goals for Portugal, 450 for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, 64 for Al-Nassr, and five for Sporting CP.

The Al-Nassr star will next be in action for Portugal in their UEFA Euro 2024 match against Group F side Georgia on Wednesday (June 26).
