Cristiano Ronaldo wants Al-Nassr to strengthen their squad before agreeing to a new deal, according to Fichajes. The Portuguese superstar's contract with the Saudi club expires at the end of this season and he hasn't agreed to a renewal yet.
It now appears that CR7 is willing to extend his stay with the club, provided they commit to squad reinforcements. He wants Al-Nassr to upgrade their roster to help compete with the likes of Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad.
And one player Cristiano Ronaldo has personally requested is Casemiro. The Brazilian's contract with Manchester United runs until 2026, but he has been a peripheral figure under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
Casemiro has registered three goals from 22 games across competitions this season. However, he has featured just six times under Amorim, four of which have been starts.
The player is no longer indispensable at Old Trafford and the club are reportedly likely to let him go this year. Casemiro shared the pitch with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid as well as Manchester United.
The two have played 122 games together for the two clubs, contributing seven goals together. CR7 is eager to rekindle that partnership at Saudi Arabia this year.
Casemiro's arrival could add much needed quality to Al-Nassr's midfield and the club are apparently considering a move. Ronaldo also wants reinforcements in other areas of the pitch and the Saudi club are willing to comply.
What has Cristiano Ronaldo said about his renewal?
Cristiano Ronaldo has registered 17 goals and three assists from 20 games across competitions for Al-Nassr this season. Speaking recently, the Portuguese hinted at a possible renewal with the Saudi club.
“I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving," said Ronaldo (via News18).
He continued:
“It’s hard to compete with teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but we are still there, still pushing and fighting. Football is like that; you have good moments and bad moments. But, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, push hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles."
CR7 arrived in Saudi Arabia after terminating his contract with Manchester United in December 2022. Since then, he has registered 75 goals and 18 assists from 84 games across competitions.
