Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly urged Al-Nassr to sign his compatriot Bruno Fernandes in the upcoming summer transfer window. With the Saudi Arabian side looking for an attacking midfielder, the Portuguese could be a good fit.
As per journalist David McDonnell (via GiveMeSport), Al-Nassr are looking to sign a centre-back and an attacking midfielder this summer as a priority. Ronaldo has urged them to sign Bruno Fernandes, whose future at Manchester United isn't entirely certain. His contract expires in 2026 and a big offer could tempt the club into selling him.
McDonnell also reported that Fernandes spoke to the Red Devils about his future at the club only last week, writing:
"Ronaldo is understood to have urged his club to move for Fernandes, who held a meeting with United last week to discuss his future and the club's ambitions going forward.
"Fernandes is said to have sought assurances from new United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his football leadership team about their vision for the club in the coming years."
Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes have shared the pitch 100 times for Portugal and Manchester United, combining for eight goals. Al-Nassr will hope to bring the duo together in their yellows next season.
Bruno Fernandes opens up on his future amidst interest from Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr
Manchester United beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford in their Premier League clash on Wednesday, May 15. Bruno Fernandes again played an important role, providing an assist.
After the game, he was asked about his future at the club and he answered (via Sky Sports):
"I feel that the club wants me to be a part of the future, so, as I said always, I don't want to be a player that the club doesn't want to have. If for some reason they don't want to have me, I will go, but if they want me I will stay."
Fernandes has arguably been United's best player since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020. He has recorded 79 goals and 65 assists in 231 games, helping them win the Carabao Cup last season.
Meanwhile, Fernandes isn't the only Manchester United player who's been linked with a move to Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr this summer. Raphael Varane, who's set to leave Old Trafford, and Casemiro have also garnered interest from the Knights of Njad.
