Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing Liverpool loanee Ben Doak, who is relishing a fine campaign at EFL Championship side Middlesbrough, in the January transfer window.
Doak, 19, has turned a lot of heads with his brilliant outings while on loan at Middlesbrough so far this term. He has started 16 of his 18 Championship appearances for the Boro, scoring two goals and providing five assists in the process.
Now, according to reporter Alan Nixon, Crystal Palace are aiming to bring Doak to the Premier League next month as they continue to fight off the possibility of relegation. The player is said to be keen to try his luck in the top-flight as well.
Doak, who joined Liverpool's youth setup from Celtic for £600,000 in 2022, could prove to be a fine signing for the Eagles should he join them. He would provide competition to Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr, Daichi Kamada, and Matheus Franca.
Meanwhile, the Merseyside outfit have the option of recalling Doak from Middlesbrough in the middle of the season. As a result, they could facilitate a potential loan transfer for the six-cap Scotland international to Oliver Glasner's side soon.
21-year-old opens up on latest Liverpool outing
Earlier on Sunday (December 29), Joe Gomez picked up a hamstring injury in the 37th minute of Liverpool's 5-0 league victory at West Ham United. Subsequently, Jarell Quansah replaced Gomez and helped his side register a clean sheet.
After the end of the clash at London Stadium, Quansah was asked to opine on his experience as a substitute in a match dominated by his side. He responded (h/t liverpoolfc.com):
"I think it's what you do before the game. It's the training we've put in and just [about] trying to feel as confident as you can coming onto the pitch really and knowing that you are ready. I think the coaching staff have done a great job of helping us with that. Obviously, I've not played too many minutes but just being ready and knowing that I am ready will always put me in good stead."
Asked to shed light on how he is prepared for a game, Quansah replied:
"It's tireless work. It's hard, to be honest. Obviously, you are training a lot, you are running a lot [post-match], but yeah, it's just trying to keep your body ready and training good habits. That's what you've got to do: just stay ready."
The 21-year-old has made nine total appearances for his club this term.
