EURO 2024 breakout star Georges Mikautadze has agreed on personal terms with Champions League club AS Monaco, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed. The 23-year-old Georgia international impressed on loan at FC Metz from Ajax last season, scoring 13 goals in 20 Ligue 1 games. With his country at the EUROs, he has scored an impressive three goals in three games so far.

These performances have put Mikautadze in the limelight, as he also notably scored a goal and provided an assist against Portugal. The striker's efforts have guided Georgia into the Round of 16 of the competition, where they will face strong contenders Spain.

It is no surprise that this has led to interest from clubs. While he continues to be on loan at Metz, where he started his career, the French side struck a deal with his parent club Ajax, which included an option to buy him permanently for €10 million. And reports claim Metz will take up this option.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco have swooped right in. The Champions League club have agreed terms with Georges Mikautazde while also submitting a proposal to Metz to show their serious interest in negotiating for a possible deal.

Georges Mikautadze leads EURO 2024 goalscoring chart

Many superstars were expected to fill up the goalscoring chart at EURO 2024, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe. However, with the competition now in its knockout stages, an unexpected striker in Georges Mikautadze leads the charts.

After scoring in Georgia's 3-1 loss to Turkey, he also scored a goal in their second EURO 2024 group stage game against Czechia. Against Portugal, he provided an assist for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia before scoring his third goal of the competition with a spot-kick.

This has set Georges Mikautadze up as the highest goalscorer in the tournament currently. Behind him are Germany sharpshooter Niclas Fullkrug and winger Jamal Musiala, who both have two goals.
