Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly opened talks to sign Liverpool star Mohamed Salah on a free transfer next summer. The Ligue1 side see the Egyptian as the ideal player to lead their attack that is lacking experience.

As per a report in L'Equipe, PSG are in talks with Salah as they look to secure a pre-contract next month. The Liverpool star can sign a deal with any club from January as he will be in the final six months of his contract at Anfield.

PSG are looking to beat competition from the Saudi Pro League, where Salah has interest from Al Hilal, Al Nassr, and Al Ittihad. The Ligue1 side believes that the idea of staying in Europe and playing in the UEFA Champions League will lure the Liverpool star to the club.

The former Chelsea star has admitted that Liverpool contract talks are in his head as he plans his future. He said after the 2-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday (December 1):

"Honestly, it's in my head. Until now this is the last City game I will play for L'pool so I was just going to enjoy it. The atmosphere was incredible so I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen."

Mohamed Salah is looking for a three-year deal at Anfield but the Reds are unwilling to offer him a long-term deal. PSG are said to be open to offering him the contract and match the wages as well.

Mohamed Salah admits disappointment over Liverpool contract status

Mohamed Salah spoke to NBS Sports in November and admitted that he was yet to get a new deal from Liverpool. He claims that the plan remains to stay at the club, but believes that Liverpool are unwilling to offer him a new contract.

He said:

"We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future. I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands. Let’s wait and see.”
"Of course, [I'm disappointed] yeah. I’m not going to retire soon so I’m just playing, focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see. I’m very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I’m just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I’m just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next.”

Apart from Salah, Liverpool also have the contracts of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk to take care of this season. All three have their deals expiring at the end of the season.
