Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently provided an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract situation amid links with Real Madrid. The 26-year-old Liverpool Academy graduate has been a mainstay for the Reds since making his senior side debut in December 2016.
The Liverpool defender is especially known for delivering inch-perfect crosses into the penalty area - an attribute that has gotten him 85 assists in 332 games across competitions. In 242 games played in the Premier League so far, Alexander-Arnold has maintained 99 clean sheets for the Merseyside club.
In a YouTube video on his official channel on December 28, Fabrizio Romano spoke about Alexander-Arnold's contract situation and links with Real Madrid. According to him, the Englishman will not leave the Reds in January and finish the season with them.
"Trent is not a topic for January. So, the January transfer window is not Trent's transfer window. Trent will finish the season at Liverpool for sure," he said.
However, the Italian journalist stressed that Real Madrid are interested and working to sign the Englishman. Trent Alexander-Arnold's contract was last extended by the Reds in 2021 and will expire in the summer of 2025. There has been no confirmation of another extension at Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano ended the video by assuring fans that nothing has been agreed upon by either the player or the two concerned clubs. However, Los Blancos will officially be able to hold talks with the Englishman for a potential summer transfer from January 2025.
"I think we can win multiple trophies" - Trent Alexander-Arnold opens up about Liverpool's title ambitions this season
Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold recently opened up about his club's title hopes this season. The Merseyside club are arguably the most in-form team in Europe at present. They sit atop the Premier League table with 42 points in 17 games and have won all six games in the UEFA Champions League so far. Liverpool's only defeat this season came against Nottingham Forest at home on September 14.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Alexander-Arnold opened up on his hopes for the 2024-25 season, commenting that his side was capable of winning multiple trophies. He said:
"I think we can win multiple trophies. I think that's the level that we're at. That's the level we've shown that we're capable of, beating the best teams in the world. Of course, this is where we want to be. It is still early days, so we can't get too excited. But if you told us this at the start of the season, we'd have massive smiles on our faces."
"We're in a very, very good position, very strong position - more so in the league than the Champions League because it then becomes knockout football and what you've done so far doesn't really matter. We just need to stay consistent over the next few months and put ourselves in the best position possible."
Trent Alexander-Arnold has also been in impressive form this season, racking up 13 clean sheets in 26 appearances across competitions.
