Incoming Chelsea signing set to join La Liga side on loan once his transfer is finalized: Reports

Todd Boehly could send Chelsea's new signing out on loan.

Marc Guiu will reportedly join Sevilla on loan once his permanent move to Chelsea from Barcelona goes through. The Spanish starlet is heading to Stamford Bridge but will return to his homeland for a loan spell at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

SPORT reports that Sevilla are in pole position to sign the 18-year-old frontman after he officially joins the Blues. The Premier League giants triggered the €6 million release clause in his contract with Barca.

Garcia Pimenta has just been appointed Los Nervionenses' new manager and knows Guiu well. The Spanish tactician was a La Masia academy coach while the center-forward rose through the ranks.

Sevilla were interested in signing Guiu before Chelsea triggered the release clause and closed in on the Spain U19 international. He started breaking into the Catalans' senior team last season with two goals in seven appearances. He took just 33 seconds to score on his debut in a 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao (November 22).

Guiu is viewed as an exciting talent and a long-term signing who could be the Blues' No.9 in years to come. He's unlikely to displace Nicolas Jackson as the club's starting striker at the moment.

The 6ft1in striker is set to become Chelsea's third summer signing, following Kendry Paez and Estevao. The trio's captures start what looks to be a busy transfer window.

Chelsea reportedly also consider sending Marc Guiu on loan to Strasbourg

Chelsea are looking likely to loan Guiu out so that he earns regular game time to help his development. The aforementioned source claims the young Spaniard received proposals from Barca but favored the Blues because of a pre-season role and chance of first-team opportunities.

It's also claimed that Sevilla might not be the only European club in the race to sign Guiu on loan. Ligue 1 side Strasbourg is also under consideration, given that it is co-owned by the west Londoners' owners. Several of their past signings have headed to the Stade de la Meinau on loan.

Strasbourg finished 13th in Ligue 1 last season and are still a club being overhauled following BlueCo's takeover in June 2023. Chelsea's Andrey Santos spent last season on loan with the French outfit.

Guiu could spend a season with either Sevilla or Strasbourg before returning to Stamford Bridge and challenging for a starting berth. The Blues have a history with Spanish strikers, having boasted the likes of Fernando Torres, Diogo Costa, and Alvaro Morata in the past.
