Neymar Jr has reportedly sent a warning to his Brazil teammates in Real Madrid about playing alongside Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman joined the La Liga giants from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer.
Neymar and Kylian Mbappe played together at PSG between 2018 and 2023, sharing the pitch 136 times and recording 54 joint-goal contributions across all competitions.
The Brazilian's departure from Paris to join Saudi giants Al-Hilal was a rough one, amid reports of a rift between him and Mbappe. As per journalist Cyril Hanouna, Neymar Jr contacted his Brazilian teammates at Real Madrid to warn them about sharing the dressing room with Kylian Mbappe. The Brazilian reportedly did not share good memories of his time playing alongside the Frenchman.
Hanouna told Europe 1 (via GOAL):
“The Brazilians at Real Madrid are friends with Neymar. It has always been a war between him and Mbappe. He has sent a paper about Mbappe to the Brazilians, telling them that it was catastrophic, that it was hell."
The current Los Blancos squad features several Brazilians, including Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Endrick and Eder Militao. However, Mbappe seemed to have settled in with his teammates as of now. In his first five La Liga games, the Frenchman has already recorded three goals for the club.
"We’ve always had hotter and colder moments" - When Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe described his relationship with Neymar
Ahead of Paris St-Germain (PSG)'s UEFA Champions League fixture against Juventus in the group stage in the 2022-23 season, Kylian Mbappe addressed rumors about his rift with Neymar. The Frenchman said:
"We have always had a relationship based on respect but we’ve always had hotter and colder moments. There are periods where, as you see, we are the best friends in the world and other periods where we speak less. It’s the nature of our relationship but there is a lot of respect."
The Real Madrid forward continued:
"I have a lot of respect for the player that he is, what he represents and the importance that he has in our team. When you have two players with strong personalities like that, life isn’t linear. It’s true that sometimes things happen but it’s always respectful and in the interest of PSG."
Kylian Mbappe's statements came after reports suggesting that he wanted the Brazilian to be sold by PSG in the summer of 2023. The former Barcelona forward eventually left the club the same year to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. He has been out of action since October 2023 due to an ACL injury.
