Barcelona president Joan Laporta will reportedly sign an agreement with a Qatari fund, thereby solving their registration issues with Dani Olmo. The new economic lever reportedly deals with the sale of tickets for the VIP boxes at the revamped Camp Nou.
Barcelona signed Dani Olmo in the summer of 2024 for a reported €55 million from RB Leipzig. Due to financial constraints, the Catalan giants could only register him for the first half of the season owing to Andreas Christensen's long-term injury. However, his registration expires on December 31, 2024, and the club was struggling to renew it amid LaLiga's FFP constraints.
The big blow for Barcelona came when their appeal to Commercial Court No. 10 to secure a precautionary measure for re-registering Olmo was rejected by Judge Ignacio Fernandez de Senespleda.
However, the latest report from Barca Universal confirms that the club's new deal with the Qatari fund would bring in €100-120 million. This would then help them register Pau Victor and Dani Olmo almost immediately. Although representatives from the Qatari fund have signed the agreement, Laporta is yet to put pen to paper and is reportedly waiting for December 31.
As per DiarioSPORT, Joan Laporta wants to wait for the outcome of the court appeal, which is expected on Monday (December 30). By that time, the Barcelona president will also be aware of LaLiga's approval before signing the deal. As per the report, the club has sent the official documents regarding the deal to LaLiga and is waiting for the verdict.
Dani Olmo was a La Masia player before leaving the Catalan giants in 2014. The Spaniard has been in great form since his homecoming in 2024. He has made 15 appearances this season, scoring six goals and creating one other.
