Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in adding Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat to his ranks this summer.
Since Mourinho's appointment as their boss, Fenerbahce have been quite active in the summer transfer window. They have signed eight players, including the likes of Youssef En-Nesyri, Caglar Soyuncu, and Allan Saint-Maximin, for a combined sum of over £40 million.
Now, according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho has earmarked Amrabat as his next possible signing. Fenerbahce are confident of securing the ex-Feyenoord man's signature this summer.
However, the Turkish outfit's pursuit of the defensive midfielder is expected to ruffle some feathers at Manchester United. Erik ten Hag's side are still hoping to sign the player despite rejecting the opportunity to turn his loan move into a permanent one earlier last month.
Ahead of the 2023-24 season, Amrabat sealed a loan switch to Manchester United from Fiorentina. The 27-year-old Moroccan struggled to shine as he started just 17 of his 30 appearances for Ten Hag's outfit.
So far, Amrabat has found the back of the net once and recorded one assist in 107 games in all competitions for his current club Fiorentina.
Dwight Yorke says Manchester United man will never be 'a 20-goal a season' attacker
Speaking to British betting website BoyleSports, ex-Manchester United star Dwight Yorke shared his two cents on Denmark international Rasmus Hojlund. He said (h/t DAZN):
"I think it's going to be very difficult for Hojlund to be a 20-goal a season striker from what I've seen and I think it will never happen. He's still young but even watching him at Euro 2024, he's lacking something. I'm not quite sure what it is. He's not got that X factor that you look for in strikers."
Yorke, who helped United win the treble in the 1998-99 season, added:
"I think he's a good player. I think that's the category I would put him in as he's still very developing and there is huge hope for the kid and I wish him the best but I'm not seeing it just yet. I hope he surprises me but I have my doubts about it. I just think that is he going to be Manchester United's saviour? The answer is no."
Since arriving in a potential £72 million deal from Atalanta, Hojlund has contributed 16 goals and two assists in 43 matches for the Red Devils.
Hojlund, 21, will miss six weeks of action after sustaining a hamstring issue in the Red Devils' recent 2-1 pre-season friendly loss to Arsenal.
