La Liga outfit Real Betis are reportedly set to sanction the signing of Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian on a free transfer this summer. The Spanish goalkeeper is set to reach the end of his contract at Anfield this month and will return to his former club.
Liverpool signed goalkeeper Adrian from West Ham United in 2019 as a free agent. He helped them defeat Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup final almost immediately. The Spaniard was signed to be the second-choice goalkeeper at the club before eventually becoming third-choice later in his career.
Fabrizio Romano reports via ABC Sevilla that Adrian has an agreement in place to return to Real Betis once his contract with the Reds expires on June 30. The transfer will see the 37-year-old return to the club where he began his professional career and played until 2013 when he moved to England.
In Adrian, Jurgen Klopp found a reliable deputy for Alisson at first, but the emergence of Caoimhin Kelleher pushed the veteran goalkeeper further back. He last appeared in a game for Liverpool in July 2022, their Community Shield win over Manchester City.
Adrian will join Real Betis, who will be campaigning in the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2024-25 to possibly be the first-choice. He will be replacing Chilean legend Claudio Bravo, who will leave the club on June 30 when his contract expires.
The Spanish goalkeeper will be the third senior player to exit Anfield for free this summer after Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip. The Reds may look to sign another experienced goalkeeper or promote one from their academy to be their third-choice for next season.
Sevilla, Leipzig keen on Liverpool starlet - Reports
RB Leipzig and Sevilla are interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton this summer, according to a report from The Times. The young midfielder has caught the eyes of multiple sides in Europe after a solid season on loan in the Championship.
A Liverpool player through and through, Morton came through the Reds' academy before making his professional debut under Jurgen Klopp. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder made 39 appearances for Hull City in the Championship last season, scoring three times and assisting five more.
Klopp's exit from Anfield will put the youngster on his toes regarding a possible transfer away from the club. He will be keen to impress new manager Arne Slot in the early days of pre-season before potentially choosing whether or not to leave the club.
